Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages
English has become the most important language for every country. Anyone wanting to join the international workforce, study abroad or just travel need to speak English.
In saying this, I took the in-country TESOL course in Vietnam. The course provided me with so much more than just an instructional course. It provided me with confidence and a solid platform for ongoing communication with fellow teachers. We share ideas, tips and classroom activities with each other. The instructors are encouraging and knowledgeable. They invest in you.
You go into the course not sure of what to expect and you leave confident. You create new friendships last will last forever.
The course of 150 hours goes by so fast. After the second week, expect to have peer to peer teaching. Critiquing each other and honing in on our teaching skills. Then we jump right into a classroom setting with actual Vietnamese students. This is crucial in building your teaching experience.
Finally, the day comes when you graduate and your new venture begins. You know you can do this. You can go into the classroom knowing you had the solid foundation to build your career as an ESL Teacher. The world is at your feet. In Vietnam, the opportunities are endless. Private tutoring, Public schools, English Centers and businesses wanting your help. Teaching their employees English.
The choice is yours. Work as much as you want and as little as you want. Who wouldn’t take advantage of this? I did. No more 9 to 5 job for me!
