The main language spoken is Vietnamese, with the occasional person speaking English or French.

Climate

Hanoi experiences a typical climate with four seasons. With temperatures ranging from 23.6 °C (74 °F) to 42.8 °C (109 °F) with a mean humidity of 79%. The lowest temperature of 2.7 °C (37 °F) was recorded in January of 1955.

Once the capital of north Vietnam, after the reunification of Vietnam; Hanoi became the capital of Vietnam. The city was named Hanoi (The City in a Bend of the River) by Emperor Tu Duc in 1831. Hanoi was proclaimed the capital of Vietnam after the August Revolution of 1945, but it was not until the Geneva Accords of 1954 that the Viet Minh, driven from the city by the French in 1946, were able to return.

As of 2018 the GDP per capita of Hanoi is US $5,080.00, but this number is expected to rise seeing as Hanoi is the fastest growing city (from 2018-2025).
