Most powerful words to remember when you are a traveller.
Embrace: accept or support a belief, theory, or change willingly and enthusiastically.
Tolerance: the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular, the existence of opinions, behaviours that do not necessarily agree with yours.
I wanted to mention two words to you when visiting Vietnam. You will see, smell and discover things and go “Wow”. To name a few, the insane motorbike traffic, the open meat markets ( I personally enjoy walking through the street markets and see what they have to sell and talk myself out of buying ). and last to mention the lack of walkable sidewalks.
If you stop and look at these things from a different perspective, they are charming and beguiling. It may be odd for us. Those of us from the western world. But in fact, Vietnam has come a long way. Developing and ever becoming modern.
Vietnamese acceptance of foreigners and their smiles as you pass them on the street. Their willingness to try to communicate with you.
Where else would a complete stranger, stop you as you try to pass by, and invite you for a drink? (một, hai, ba) Or invite you to have a meal with their family?
There are many opportunities in Vietnam. There are countless new discoveries you will encounter and long lasting friendships. You too will see the inner beauty of Vietnam and its people, as I have.
